My Story

Date into rescue: 6/16/2017

Reason for being in rescue? Pulled from a SC shelter, originally found as a stray

Special Needs?  Butch is lightly heartworm positive (HW+). He will be sent home with a year supply of heartworm medication. He is being treated with a method called the slow kill treatment. He takes a monthly Ivermectin based heartworm preventative and needs to be re-tested for heartworms every 6 months. Once he tests negative, then he can take any kind of heartworm preventative; he is not restricted to Ivermectin based only. PLEASE NOTE our heartworm positive dogs MUST be kept on this method of treatment. Make sure to talk with you vet about this method before submitting an application.

What kind of home would be best for me? Just a laid back guy looking for a loving laid back home! He would make a great dog for someone looking for an easy, low maintenance companion. He's ready to meet his forever family!

What is my personality like?    Butch is just your average happy go lucky dog. He is not hard to please; just love him! He is working on learning basic commands, but his charm makes you forget he's still learning. And he is very eager to learn all that he can! He would love to have someone take him on nice walks and maybe even cloud watch. Other dogs do not bother him. Actually, nothing really bothers him because he is always calm and collected.

How do I act when I meet new people? Very friendly, he wags his tail at everyone he meets.

Tips and Tidbits: He is a sweet beagle mix boy in a big poodle world here at our rescue!

House trained?   Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours.  We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
