My Story

Date into rescue: 2/26/2018

Reason for being in rescue? Rescue transfer- Puppy mill bust.

Special Needs?Ursula had a bilateral inguinal hernia repair that should be monitored and our vet suggests that she be adopted out locally in case another procedure needs to be done. She seems to be doing well so far.

What kind of home would be best for me? We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away.

What is my personality like? Ursula is one cute little girl! When first meeting her she is very shy and thinks twice about trusting humans. Once she lets her guard down she becomes more and more affectionate each day. The caregivers here have been working with her leash walking and she is learning, but will still need work in the future. When she first arrived she was shut down and would hide in the back of her crate. She was always the kind of girl to hang back in the shadows.. but every day she comes out of her shell and we have seen that she is starting to play with the other dogs! Ursula can be a little sassy pants and nip at you when she does not want to be picked up but that will improve with one on one time with her.

How do I act when I meet new people? Shy, she will nip at you when picking her up if she is not comfortable with you.

Tips and Tidbits: Ursula has been through a lot. She originally came from a puppy mill. Puppy mill dogs are normally under socialized and will need a special and patient owner to earn her trust and teach her how to be a beloved pet.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
