Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Miniature) (long coat)
Weight: 6.1 lbs
Height: 9 in
Estimated Birthdate: 3/11/2014
Fence Needed: No, but would be best with a fence and leash walking due to her skittish nature.

Date into rescue: 3/11/2018
Reason for being in rescue? Rapunzel was transferred from another rescue to CPR. She was originally from a puppy mill.
Special Needs? Rapunzel is heartworm positive (HW+). She will be sent home with a year's supply of heartworm prevention medication. Rapunzel will begin her heartworm treatment by the end of June 2018. She will then be on rest for 4 weeks, followed by quiet rehab for 4-6 weeks. Given this, Rapunzel will not be ready for adoption before August 1, 2018. BEFORE CONSIDERING A HEARTWORM POSITIVE DOG, PLEASE TALK TO YOUR VET OR THEIR SUGGESTED PROTOCOLS AND CHECK COSTS.
What kind of home would be best for me? We are seeking a quiet home with an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away. Rapunzel is going to be a wonderful companion to the home that offers her time to trust and gain confidence. Owner Experience 4: Experienced dog owner. This will be your second or third dog, but have had no behavioral or medical challenges to work with.
What is my personality like? Like most puppy mill dogs, Rapunzel is under socialized and afraid in new environments with new people. When she first arrived, she hid in a corner and would not let a single soul touch her. Rapunzel has been here for 2 months now and she has started to come around. When you walk into her play yard she will gently come up to you and lick your fingers and even let you pick her up when she is comfortable. She doesn't know any tricks or basic commands but she is a sweet girl with so much potential. All she needs is her special person to teach her what it's like to be a part of the family.
How do I act when I meet new people? Skittish but will come up to you when other dogs are around.
Tips and Tidbits: Rapunzel will not be available for adoption before August 1, 2018.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
