My Story

Date into rescue: 4/2/2018

Reason for being in rescue? Treasure was surrendered by a well-intending family who purchased her from Craigslist. They knew they could not care for her, but didn't want her to end up in the wrong hands.

Special Needs?Treasure is not house trained and she pees a lot. She will also get up in the night and go - she sleeps with her foster mom right now and does whine to go out and will wake her up. Treasure will also soil a crate.  We've sent a urinalysis out to see if there is anything physically wrong but Treasure's foster mom thinks her first owner, a breeder, never trained her and her next owner (who had terminal cancer) probably never trained her as she was dealing with her own health issues.  We're working on it but she will need help.

What kind of home would be best for me? Treasure is looking for a home where she can be a beloved pet. Her days of breeding are behind her and she would love a home where she will be cherished and spoiled. She would do well in a home with other dogs, or could be an only dog. She really just wants a lap to love and a family to call her own.

What is my personality like? Despite a tough history, Treasure is an absolute delight. This beautiful girl was a breeder dog for many years. When her breeder was done with her she dropped her at a shelter. She was adopted from a shelter to a family that tried to sell her into a bad scene via Craigslist. Two caringanimal lovers saw her photo, intervened, and then asked Carolina Poodle Rescue to help.

How do I act when I meet new people? Friendly

Tips and Tidbits:

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Thank you for considering CPR!
