My Story

Date into rescue: 05/07/2018

Reason for being in rescue? Pulled from shelter in North Carolina. Charles was found as a stray and picked up by an animal shelter, from which he was rescued.

Special Needs? None

What kind of home would be best for me? Charles is a young, active dog who needs a home where he will get lots of exercise and attention. He doesn't require a fenced in back yard, but would love a fenced yard where he could run and play. Charles would love another dog in the home that he could play with. He could also be someone's one and only. Charles needs a confident owner that will work with him on his resource guarding related to food.

What is my personality like? Charles is a young dog with a lot of energy. He is currently living in a foster home where he gets along great with other dogs and cats. He is eager to play with the other dogs and eager to be petted and receive affection. Charles is still very much a young dog, and as such he needs continued training. He walks okay on a leash and is working on house training. He loves to play with toys! Charles and his foster sister Tilly enjoy a game of tug of war over toys on a nightly basis. Charles will make a great companion for a family that wants an energetic, eager to please dog.

How do I act when I meet new people? Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Charles does mildly resource guard his food. In his foster home he is free-fed. Charles is fine as long as you don't try to take his food away from him. If you attempt to take food away from Charles he will growl and has nipped his foster mom once.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
