Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Silky Terrier (medium coat)
Weight: 19 lbs
Height: 11 in
Estimated Birthdate: 2/2/2009
Fence Needed: No
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Adoption Fee:$200 for Toby and Ceasar together! We're a team!
Reason for being in rescue: Toby and his brother Caesar were pulled from a shelter in NY. This was their third time to the shelter when their owner was unable to care for them.
Special Needs: Yes, I need to go to a home with Ceasar.
What kind of home would be best for me: Toby is an experienced boy who needs an experienced owner. He is generally well mannered, but can be headstrong. Toby needs an owner who will show him consistency and love and teach him some basic manners.
What is my personality like: 3/29/19...update, we have a volunteer working at the farm this week and she took one look at Toby and said he is not a yorkshire terrier. He's a silky terrier. So we're changing his description and after reading the breed description, I agree with her. Toby, like most Yorkies, is full of confidence and spunk! He struts wherever he goes without a care in the world. Toby loves to play with toys but he can be a little stingy with them. He is fine with most dogs, but does not get along with other male dogs that are strong willed like him. His favorite things consist of going for walks, riding in a car, eating every treat he can and being loved on by humans! Toby is an awesome bed fellow who enjoys happily snuggling under the covers all night. He does need to learn basic commands and correcting his leash pulling. Toby can be a little temperamental and likes things on his terms. He has been known to growl and show his teeth if you try to make him do something he doesn't want to do. He needs a confident owner that will help redirect Toby and teach him appropriate manners for handling situations he may not like. With a confident owner who knows their way around dogs, he's a perfect angel. Toby and Ceasar are the perfect pair, you can have the best of both worlds!
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly, does not meet a stranger.
Tips and Tidbits: Toby is a loving boy but he's a terrier. He can be stubborn. No cats please. The pair gets along well with some cats and not with others.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
