My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/7/18

Reason for being in rescue: Zoey Belle was dropped inside the fence at our facility in SC. Her owners clearly loved her enough to get her to a safe place. We are happy to help her find her new home!

Special Needs: none noted

What kind of home would be best for me? Zoey Belle is a sweet, shy girl whose sad past hasn't hurt her sunny outlook. She needs a patient owner who will help her come out of her shell. She has lots of potential and just needs love and patience. Owner Experience Level 3: First time dog owner but has lived with a dog as an adult and participated in the dog's care

What is my personality like: One morning, a caregiver pulled into the parking lot here at CPR and noticed a terrified dog, running around with the leash around it's neck and tail tucked under. That dog was me. I didn't know where I was, or why the humans just sat me over the gate and left me. I watched them pull off, wondering if they would come back.. they never did. It took awhile for the caregiver to catch me. Once I was captured I just laid my head in the humans lap. To be a dog with a hurtful past, I am as gentle and sweet as they come. I even let a 5 lb Yorkie boss me around for a little while until I got tired and let out a little growl for him to leave me alone. I do great with other dogs, and pay no mind to cats. I don't know how to sit but I am highly treat motivated and can learn! Leash walking is a piece of cake for me! I don't pull at all and walk gently next to you. I am great at riding in a car. I even recently went on TV with our Director! I am a little shy, and could really benefit from a confidence boost. I just need a calm, loyal and understanding family to give me a home that won't abandon me.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy but sweet.

Tips and Tidbits: I am allergic to fleas, it is important for me to be on a good flea prevenitive.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
