Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (medium coat)
Weight: 7.2 lbs
Estimated Birthdate: 10/31/2013
Fence Needed: No
Location: Foster Home in Rocky Mount, NC
Reason for being in rescue: Rufus was surrendered by his owners to our local vet when they could not afford emergency medical care needed. CPR stepped in with our vet to help him.
Special Needs: Rufus is blind in one eye. He had cataract surgery on his other eye in April 2019 and has some vision restored. He will be on daily eye drops for the rest of his life.
What kind of home would be best for me: Rufus is a happy go lucky boy who is looking for a home where someone wants to play ball. He would love a family where someone is home during the day to play with. He is happy living with other dogs but equally content to be an only dog.
What is my personality like: Rufus is our most recent cataract kid. He came to CPR with a bad injury that led to permanent vision loss in one eye, but it hasn't dulled his zest for life. Despite past circumstances he is great with other dogs and cats. He is fearless in any circumstance and only wants to share love and a game of chase.
Rufus is the best friend to everyone he meets. He is happy in any environment as long as there are people to love and a ball to play with. Rufus would love a home where someone is home during the day to play ball. He will literally play for hours.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly. Rufus loves everyone!
Tips and Tidbits: Rufus is the happiest boy you will ever meet! The way to his heart is a tennis ball.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
