Biography

Jayne was found as a stray in Eastern NC. She landed at the animal shelter. CPR took one look at her tiny, trembling body and said an easy yes. We knew that Jayne had general alopecia, likely from a flea infestation. We knew she had cataracts. But one night in a foster home revealed another set of medical concerns.

Foster mom was correct in her observation that Jayne was drinking an excessive amount of water and urinating too frequently. A quick trip to the doctors confirmed our suspicions - Jayne is diabetic. Step one with a diabetic dog is stabilizing their insulin needs. We have done that. In the process Jayne lost most of her hair, but this will grow back.

While we don't know much about Jayne's past, we do know that it has not dimmed her spirit. Jayne is the absolute sweetest girl you will ever meet. She is great for a blood draw or her daily shots. What she wants most is to be loved and cuddled.

Diabetes is very manageable in dogs. Once the insulin is regulated, it requires daily shots. We are still working to address Jayne's cataracts in hopes that her vision can be restored. She is a wonderful little girl with lots of love and life to share with someone!

Sponsorship

Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog!  I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs.  If I have medical challenges I need even more!  The caregivers at Carolina Poodle Rescue will do the rest.  Just think, without ever having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support!  Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate. Questions? Email: cprsosdogs@carolinapoodlerescue.org

I am looking for angels to sponsor me.  I love my sponsors!  GERRY A, DENISE H, JENNIFER R
