Biography

Billy was found as a stray in rural TN. Dumped behind a dumpster, unable to walk, his best day was the day animal control saw him and took him to the shelter. Because the next day CPR's Operations Manager was at the shelter to pick up a senior dog and saw Billy's face. She took once look at this young boy and knew that he had a lot of life and love left to give.

Billy is named in honor of a precious, brave man who fought many battles during his too-short life. Born a dwarf, life was not always easy for the original Billy. But he persevered and had a wonderful, fulfilling life surrounded by an abundance of family and friends. This is what we wish for our Billy. We don't know the source of Billy's injury that left him paralyzed in his rear, but we know that he is tough and brave and has a lot of desire to live his best life. He has already been surrounded by love and light from the CPR family. And we know his best days are still ahead!

Billy is currently in resident with CPR's veterinary partner - Critter Care. He is living in their boarding facility so that he can receive cold laser therapy on the back half of his body daily. While this is a VERY slow process, our doctors report that Billy is responding favorably to the laser therapy and there are some improvements. We do not know if Billy will ever walk again. He may never regain control of his bladder or bowels. We are committed to him regardless. Billy will live his very best life from this day forward!

Sponsorship

Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog!  I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs.  If I have medical challenges I need even more!  The caregivers at Carolina Poodle Rescue will do the rest.  Just think, without ever having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support!  Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate.
