Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Terrier / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat)
Estimated Birthdate: 2/26/2016
Fence Needed: No
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: Major Payne was part of a group of dogs seized from a home. CPR partner with a local shelter to help these animals.
What kind of home would be best for me: Major Payne needs a home with quiet and patient owners who have no children. He does ok with other dogs, as long as they don't over crowd him. He does bark at new people, and tries to sound fierce, but if you sit down and let him come to you, he will be your friend.
What is my personality like: We don't know what Major Payne's past involved, but it has made him leery of people. At first pass, Major Payne looks fierce. He will bark at what he doesn't know. Underneath the tough exterior is a good boy. Once he knows you, he loves to snuggle and give kisses. He is a teddy bear disguising himself as a bear to the unsuspecting stranger.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Cautious, and a little hesitant. Major Payne is not a dog that the unfamiliar stranger can walk up to and reach down to pet.
Tips and Tidbits: Estimated Birthdate: 2/26/2016. Major Payne is a project in progress. We don't know what his past has involved, but it clearly has not been kind, he has already made tremendous progress, and we look forward to seeing this boy's full smile shine through!
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
