Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Maltese / Poodle (Toy)
Weight: 11.6 lb
Estimated Birthdate: 3/17/2013
Fence Needed: Yes. Lilly is still learning what it means to walk on a leash and will escape out a door. She needs a fenced yard where she can safely potty.
Location: Foster Home in Rocky Mount, NC
Reason for being in rescue: Lilly was part of a group of dogs seized from a home. CPR partnered with a local shelter to help these animals.
Special Needs: Lilly has Grade 1 dental disease, reversible with appropriate home care. She showed signs of fleas upon initial inspection, and was treated for them. She also has a 4/6 grade heart murmur that will need medication to manage. We recommend Vetmedin 2.5mg, 1/2 pill twice a day.
What kind of home would be best for me: Lilly is best suited as a lap dog in a quiet home, where she can help binge watch Netflix and watch documentaries. She does well with other dogs but does not have to have a canine companion.
What is my personality like: Sweet Lilly. We don't know what life has been for you during your short 6 years, but it hasn't involved much exposure to people or experiences. Lilly is a beautiful, quiet girl who is timid at first but turns into a wiggly girl around people she knows and trusts. Every experience in life is new for this girl. Car rides are still very scary - Lilly pants and drools the entire time in the car. This will improve as she gains experience riding, but her new family will have to patiently teach her.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly.
Tips and Tidbits:
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
