My Story

Date into Rescue: 3/31/2019

Reason for being in rescue: Bon Bon's owners passed away. The family tried rehoming him, but Bon Bon didn't do well with the children in the new home.

Special Needs: none noted

What kind of home would be best for me: Bon Bon is the quintessential lap dog looking for his lap. He would do best in a retired home that will take him on adventures with them instead of leaving him home alone.

What is my personality like: Bon Bon is a very needy boy, he has severe separation anxiety. He needs to be crated if he is to be left alone for any length of time. He will howl, and he will scratch at the door until his little paws bleed. If left outside unattended, or with no way to get to his people if he wants to, he is capable of jumping/climbing over a fence, or digging under it like a mole on meth. He does seem to be getting a little better with this, but it will still be an issue for a while.

Bon Bon does not mind dogs or cats, so long as they don't get in his face. If they do, he will growl to warn them off. He seems to respond to verbal correction when this does happen. He LOVES attention, and will seek head and back scratches from everyone in a room, though he does not seem to like kids, so he would need to go to a home with no children, or older children that know how to treat a dog.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Bon Bon immediately wants to have you love on him. He loves to be held.

Tips and Tidbits: Don't leave him unattended outside unless he knows he can get back to you and is aware of where you are. he likes treats and snuggles, this is the way to his heart!

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
