My Story

Date into Rescue: 5/22/2019

Reason for being in rescue: Sc animal control- found as a stray. Owner was found but no longer wanted Ava Jo due to the fact that she would not "stay in the yard".

Special Needs:none noted

What kind of home would be best for me: Ava Jo is looking for an active home that can keep up with her energy and heart. She needs a large fenced yard where she can run and play with her people. She would be fine with another dog or as the only dog. Ava Jo would make a great running partner!

What is my personality like: Ava Jo was found as a stray in Union, her owners were located, but they did not want her back. She was covered in ticks when we got her, and clearly neglected. In spite of this, she still loves people. She is an incredibly affectionate dog. She rides well in a car, but does tend to climb into the drivers seat when you get out. Ava Jo walks beautifully on a lead. She stays by her person, never pulling, preferring to lean against your legs as you stand still.

Ava Jo doesn't seem to know any commands. What she lacks in experience she makes up for in enthusiasm. As far as toys go, she hasn't shown interest, and as for as the treats go, she has no preference. She is thin, and would likely eat a brick if you told her it was a treat, but she takes them politely. She doesn’t seem to have much of a prey drive, and she’s fine with other dogs. She does eat very fast, and she’s always left wanting more. Ava Jo is a playful, loving, and affectionate sweetheart.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Estimated birthdate - 11/22/2017

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
