Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Dachshund (short coat)
Weight: 22 lbs
Height: 11 in
Estimated Birthdate: 9/14/2011
Fence Needed: No
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: Anderson PAWS
Special Needs: Elmer is a "hot mess." His skin has not been cared for and he has crusties. He had a mass on one foot which we took care of. He's also a grumpy old man who does not like it when you have to poke and prod at him. He hated having his mouth looked in but he had a lot of bad teeth. Now that he has had his dental, he's doing better. If your just cuddling him he's awesome.
What kind of home would be best for me: Elmer needs an experienced dachshund home who appreciates and understands the quirks and traits of the breed. For you, he will be a joy.
What is my personality like: Elmer is a senior citizen and acts it. His favorite activity is couch potato, going for ambles and strolls and in the house being underfoot and part of all of your life. He has been loved at some time. How he got in this shape and in this place is a mystery.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Curious
Tips and Tidbits: The shelter estimated him at 8 years old (birthdate 09/10/11) but he acts older.
Elmer will be on the bus headed to the Allentown, PA area for an adoption event at Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall, PA. Join Carolina Poodle Rescue and other rescues on Saturday, December 7th for an adoption event.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
