My Story

Date into Rescue: 09/08/2019

Reason for being in rescue: Owner release

What kind of home would be best for me:  We are seeking a home where Coco can live with other dogs. He has lived with large and small dogs. A home with a yard and/or daily walks are needed. Be ready for some energy, Coco has not slowed down and thinks he is still a young dog. He needs a home with owners who are ready to help him burn off excess energy both mentally and physically. Coco wants a home where he will get regular walks and playtime.

What is my personality like:  Coco is very energetic especially for his age. Coco has a very strong personality and thinks everyone should match his energy. When the other dog says back off, Coco the drama king comes out and he acts like they're killing him. It's all an act. He is very affectionate and would love to sit by your side. He loves toys and is hopeful his new home will be full of toys.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Happy and ready to play, throw the nearest toy please! He will sit on command and adores a treat.  He likes new people and is very friendly.

Tips and Tidbits: Actual birthdate 10/24/2005. Coco has a luxating patella on one back leg but it does not bother him. When going down steps, he lifts his bad leg and uses the good ones. If you pick him up and touch the bad leg he may warn you that hurts. However, his good nature reappears quickly.  He is very, very smart and loves to have his rear scratched,  He loves to be touched and petted.

In 2013, Coco's family left him home as they went about their normal day.  When they came home, he was found outside ..bleeding and broken.  A very fast trip to the vet showed he had a broken jaw, most likely from trauma.  Some of the jaw had to be shaved off.  It has not slowed him down from eating at all.  He does drool a bit when he eats.  In 2015 Coco had some bladder stones removed. He has been healthy since that time and does not require a special diet.

House trained:  Coco is clean in his crate and will house train easily.  Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
