Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Toy) (long coat)
Height: est 8 in
Estimated Birthdate: 6/21/2005
Fence Needed: Yes...Korra has never not had the security of a fence and has no idea what you want out of her on a leash
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Adoption Fee:$1 I am priceless!
Reason for being in rescue: Korra originally came to CPR in 2011. She was adopted quickly and through no fault of her own ended up in a tough situation.. Korra is back at CPR, has received the medical care she needed, and is ready for her forever home!
Special Needs: Dearest Korra has not had good medical care and it shows. She has some vision impairment, patchy bad skin, a 1/6 heart murmur, and abnormal lymph notes. In other words, she is a hot mess but we love her dearly.
What kind of home would be best for me: Korra is the most timid of our group of special senior girls. She also has the most medical challenges. Korra needs a very quiet home with patient owners who understand she needs space. She also needs a home that is committed to her long-term medical needs.
What is my personality like: Korra is a dog's dog. She has been part of a pack her entire life and this is her safest place. Leashes are still unfamiliar. Human hands reaching down to pick her up can be scary. Car rides are not terrible but not comfortable. Affection is accepted but not sought. Sadly, this is the lens through which Korra sees the world. And yet, she is happy.
Korra's life started as part of a breeding group. For the first 6 years she lived in a group home with many other dogs and she made babies. That was her job and she was good at it. She's spent the past 8 years learning what it means to be a companion, and is still a work in progress. This may most likely be as good as it gets.
Korra knows the gentleness of human hands. She knows what kindness feels like. She tolerates being cuddled (which is impossible not to do given her cute self). She is just a quiet girl looking for a quiet world. She will likely never be a dog that seeks you out for affection. But she will show you love and respect and humility like none other.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy and timid and runs away
Tips and Tidbits: Korra's birthday is 6/21/2005..yes she is 14 yeas old. Korra has lived in tough conditions for the past few years. She has received much-needed medical and dental care and is feeling much better. This beautiful girl is ready to retire in a loving home. She will only be placed in a home with a fenced in yard and several other toy poodles or other very small dogs. She would never be happy as an only dog.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
