Timon was turned into a local shelter by his previous owner who no longer wanted him. When the shelter called, Carolina Poodle Rescue said yes. He has a strong personality. He can be timid and cautious when he meets new people.

Timon has now been in our care for a year and a half. We have watched this fella grow like a wildflower. When he first came into our rescue, he was untouchable. He was grouchy, grumpy and flat out mean! Of course, who could blame him... he was dumped at a high kill facility by his family because they "didn't want him." Over the months we have given him a lot of space, and he has been very obedient and learned our routine well.

Just recently we took him out of his comfort zone and let him live in our of our offices, which is a lot quieter with more one on one attention. He is really a GREAT boy once he gets to know you. He has established a light bond with one of our employees and he is just fine with her. Given some time, Timon is going to be a wonderful companion dog for someone.

Timon is a kind hearted, laid back guy that LOVES to sleep. He doesn't like to go outside if it's raining or cold, snowing; especially in the morning he is difficult to coax out of his crate. He likes to be outside when it is nice and warm so he can sunbathe. Timon doesn't like to b

e picked up and he likes to be left alone in his crate sometimes. When he's in a good mood he likes to give kisses and be pet on. Timon also doesn't know how much he weighs and he thinks he's a lap dog (once he's comfortable with you he'll get in your lap if you let him). I'm certain he doesn't mind cats, he probably ignores them as long as they don't bother him (he's in an office with a cat). He doesn't mind new people as long as they don't try to pick him up or invade his space.

He is house trained, does great with other animals of all sizes, and is crate trained. He walks great on a leash and loves to go for a car ride. Timon does have to be sedation groomed, however if the right, patient groomer would try him...we think he could make progress with that. He is okay being groomed everywhere except his face.

Timon loves toys and he really, really loves treats. He is food motivated, he is calm and well mannered. He needs someone with experience, and an adult only home because he is known to snap if he gets aggravated.

Timon is seeking a couple without children who is willing to work though some of his behavioral problems.  Someone who will help teach him that most people are kind and can be his buddy.  Timon needs a home where he can live on his terms, lounge and sleep as much as he wants, and enjoy a quiet lap when he desires.
