My Story

Date into Rescue:3/31/2018 (yes he's been here a while, he was truly a hot medical mess when he came in but we've cleared as much of that as possible)

Reason for being in rescue:Owner release to a SC shelter

Special Needs: Oscar has had one ear surgically closed and he is most likely very limited vision. We think the left eye is blind and the right eye can see very limited.  All of this is due to his chronic allergies and lack of care. He is on cyclosporin oral 50 mg every other day and cyclosporin eye ointment daily.  Oscar currently needs a dental and that is scheduled for first of March.  His pills are $80 for two months and approximately $75 per month for eye drops on 1-800-Petmeds.  Oscar needs a dental, we're working on getting that scheduled.

What kind of home would be best for me: All Oscar wants is a retirement home!

What is my personality like: Sweet Oscar is a farm favorite! His singing skills has won everyone's heart here at the rescue. Whenever the mood strikes him, he howls a tune! Although Oscar can't see well, as soon as he hears someone talking to him his tail starts going! Attention is his true hearts desire. He is so gentle and mild mannered that he gets along with any and everything. Oscar doesn't care to play but he enjoys strolling through the grass. He eats his food at a comfortable pace and does enjoy treats. Oscar would much rather be out of his crate sunbathing in a dog bed. There is not a mean bone in this dogs body and he has no history of resource guarding. Oscar is a simple fellow and a simple life with loving humans is all he wants!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Very sweet and friendly.

Tips and Tidbits: Estimated birth date 3/16/2010 - and this is just a guess.  He's an old 10 if he's 10.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
