My Story
Reason for being in rescue: Sylvia was surrendered by owners who could not afford to care for her.
Special Needs: Sylvia has waited for 5 and a half years at our facility for her own home. She's a staff favorite!
What kind of home would be best for me: Sylvia is seeking a happy and loving home. Her dream home would be with a mature individual or couple with middle-aged kids to teen kids. She is a happy-go-lucky lab mix with medium and sometimes high energy, but she settles quickly and responds well to direct correction from her people. She can be an alpha female and needs a confident leader. Sylvia needs to home where she can be the light of someone's life, she has lots of love to share and wants the same in return. She can co-exist with another dog, her size or bigger, but that dog must be respectful of Sylvia's personal space.
Sylvia is a people pleaser and wants nothing more than to make you proud. She walks well on a leash, has a strong recall, and loves car rides. Sylvia's smile lights up any room. She loves with her whole heart and will be a perfect companion as the only princess.
What is my personality like: This girl wakes up with a big smile on her face. Sylvia thinks every day is a sunny day. Her nickname should be 'Good Day Sunshine'.
Sylvia and her 3 puppies came into the rescue as an outside dog that did not receive much training or attention. She LOVES people and just wants to be with them. Sylvia does well meeting other dogs, but can be picky about who she wants to be friends with. Because of her upbringing, she is limited on her public skills, but is eager to learn and receive treats for being good and trying her best.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Sylvia never meets a stranger and doesn't think twice about introducing herself.
Tips and Tidbits: Sylvia's estimated birthday is 06/19/2016.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
