My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/7/18 (yes he's been here a while)

Reason for being in rescue: Gale and his canine family members were found abandoned in a home where the owner had passed away. We don't know how long they had been there, but they were in terrible condition.  It has taken a long time to turn this little family around but we take the long view.

Special Needs: none noted

What kind of home would be best for me: Gale is a calm, timid boy. He is very shy when he first meets people and will need a patient owner who gives him time and space to build trust. He needs an owner who is looking to give a dog a home who needs a home, has many years experience with dogs, and has worked with at least one behavior issues that did not require professional intervention but required much time and patience on the owner's part.  Another gregarious, happy, well socialized small dog is an absolute must for Gale's home.

What is my personality like: Gale is a sweet but shy boy. He is calm and, while timid, wants to be loved. He won't yet come to you and ask for affection, but does enjoy being picked up and petted. Although, if you have your back turned he likes to run up and give you kisses on the back of your leg. Gale is excited to see his familiar caregivers and will even wag his tail a little. Gale loves playing with his brothers and sisters. He doesn't yet play with toys, but may learn this as he builds confidence. Gale is clean in his crate and patiently waits his turn for outside time, food, etc. He has shown no aggression toward people or other dogs. He just needs time to learn that humans can be trusted again.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Timid but curious

Tips and Tidbits: Gale and his siblings were found abandoned in a home. Their owner passed away some time earlier and sadly no one checked on the dogs for many, many days. When Gale and his siblings landed at a shelter, CPR stepped up to help these timid puppies rehabilitate and find forever homes.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
