My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/7/18

Reason for being in rescue: Peta and his canine family members were found abandoned in a home where the owner had passed away. We don't know how long they had been there, but they were in terrible condition.  It has taken a long time to turn this little family around but we take the long view.

Special Needs: none noted

What kind of home would be best for me: Peta needs a very experienced, patient owner who knows how to work with timid dogs and help bring them out of their shell in a loving way. His best owner would be one who has had years of dog ownership and has worked with at least one behavior issue that did not require professional intervention but did require patience.  He is a project dog, a dog you adopt because you want to give a dog a home and a new start. Another gregarious, happy and well grounded dog in Peta's home is an absolute must.

What is my personality like:  Peta and his siblings were found abandoned in a home. Their owner passed away some time earlier and sadly no one checked on the dogs for many, many days. When Peta and his siblings landed at a shelter, CPR stepped up to help these timid puppies rehabilitate and find forever homes.

Due to Peta's past circumstances, he is skittish and weary of new people. This does not mean that he can't learn to be a forever companion.. he just needs a little help getting there. Peta needs a special person that can understand him as well as be patient with him. Right now, he still doesn't walk on a leash nor has he learned basic commands. Peta can blossom with the right person in his forever home.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Skittish

Tips and Tidbits: Peta's estimated birthday is 1/11/2017.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
