My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/7/18

Reason for being in rescue: Owner passed away - but Primrose and her canine family were neglected before the death.  Far too many dogs in far too small of a place and no cleanliness or routine care (good food, clean water, grooming, or vet care) The dogs were in the home when the owner had passed away. We don't know how long they lived with no humans to help them, but they were in terrible condition.  It has taken a long time to turn this little family around but we take the long view.

Special Needs: Primrose is vision impaired. Her teeth are not in good condition from poor living conditions for so long. Given this, she eats soft food and will need to for life.

What kind of home would be best for me: Primrose needs an experienced home with another dog to help her feel at peace. We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner that is familiar and willing to work with skittish dogs.  Like her name sake, Primrose is a true survivor. It will take someone with skill to change her stars. She will never be the gregarious social butterfly that a normal pet will be. But somewhere, someday, we hope to find someone who will love Primrose for herself.

What is my personality like: Primrose and her siblings were found abandoned in a home. Their owner passed away some time earlier and sadly no one checked on the dogs for many, many days. When Primrose and her siblings landed at a shelter, CPR stepped up to help these timid puppies. Please note they will need a patient a owner willing and able to teach these dogs how to be family pets again.

Due to her past, Primrose is still very weary of humans and outside life of her previous home in general. This girl is a project and needs a special person to help her flourish. She will nip at you if she feels threatened, the key to her heart will be patience, understanding and guidance. Once she knows you, Primrose enjoys being held and petted. She loves to sunbathe and gets along well with everyone in her play group. We've never heard Primrose bark. She is a quiet girl that is clean in her crate and patiently waits for her food.

Primrose has never lived in a traditional home environment. Her forever family will understand this and be prepared to work with her through her transition into a loving home environment.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Very shy

Tips and Tidbits: Primrose's estimated birthday is 7/11/2013

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
