Biography

Kira was lovingly surrendered by her owner (and breeder) when her medical needs outweighed the owners' financial capabilities. At only 12 months old, Kira was seemingly healthy EXCEPT for some nasty diarrhea. She was severely underweight and her owners were very concerned and at the end of what they could do. And so a difficult decision was made.

When CPR said yes to Kira, we hoped we were looking at a medical concern that could be easily addressed. But we all know sometimes things don't work out as we hoped. Precious Kira was diagnosed with IMHA in December 2019. This is a condition in which the dog's immune system attacks their own red blood cells. It causes anemia and ultimately the dog is bleeding internally. Thankfully, this condition can be managed with steroids and diet.

Kira is as sweet and gentle a dog as they come. She has the most soulful eyes and quietly observes everything and everyone around her. She can be a little shy around new people, but once she knows you, you have her entire heart. This small, precious girl is leaving a big mark on the world - she charms everyone she meets!

Due to ongoing medical needs, Kira is considered hospice. She is not available for adoption. Kira has a loving foster mom that is committed to celebrating every day that we have with this angel. Because with Kira, every day is a gift.

Sponsorship

Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog! I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs.  If I have medical challenges I need even more! r having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support!  Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate. Questions?  Email: cprsosdogs@carolinapoodlerescue.org

I love my Virtual Adopters! PAM K, JEN & MIKE R, HEATHER & CINDY W
