Why am I with a rescue group? Sadie is a dog who has taken life and put it on her own terms and conditions. She luckily has been placed inside our rescue where her boundaries are respected at all times by her caregivers. Sadie is in permanent sanctuary and is not available for adoption.
Sadie isn’t the dog that climbs up on your lap expecting to be snuggled, nor is that the type of love that she desires. Instead she wants a more peaceful coexistence where she is given space and can just be. Sadie has transformed from this little dog who would always guard her toys, food, and bed to this now more content dog who only shows that side of herself when her limits are pushed past her threshold. Sadie used to always be on guard of what would come next and who might steal what from her, but now has been able to relax (just a little) and let her mind be more at ease. With that said she still shows a lot of resource guarding behaviors and can appear to be in bad mood when someone gets to close. This has not stopped her caregivers from forming beautiful moments where Sadie has been able to enjoy nice moments on their laps or even just lay beside them.
It seems as time passes by this little girl is learning it’s okay to trust but even if she never fully reaches that state her caregivers are devoted to give her the best life possible (all on Sadie’s terms and time of course).
Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog! I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs. If I have medical challenges I need even more! r having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support! Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate. Questions? Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
