My Story

Date into Rescue: 6/20/2020

Reason for being in rescue: Oscar was pulled from a rural shelter in North Carolina

Special Needs: Oscar is a senior dog. He has a grade 4/6 heart murmor and will require daily medicine for the rest of his life. He had major surgery for bladder challenges, was neutered, and had a dental with extractions in early July. Oscar will require a special diet to help manage his bladder issues for the rest of his life.

What kind of home would be best for me: Precious Oscar is looking for a retirement home. He needs to be the only dog in a home with someone home during the day. All that Oscar wants is a lap and snuggles. He needs a home committed to maintaining his daily heart medicine and special diet to help him live his healthiest life.

What is my personality like: Oscar is a quiet gentleman. At an estimated 15 years young we cannot blame him. Oscar loves food. He is food motivated and will work for food, though at this point in life he is past wanting to do lots of tricks. He also loves soft beds and can be found snuggling down into any soft bed he can find. Oscar also loves to ride in cars! He will curl up in your lap for the ride and happily tag along for any road trip adventure you may be on.

Oscar does not like other dogs. He will snap at them if they come too close to his space, especially if they are in his place. We figure he's earned the right to be the king of someone's castle!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Oscar's estimated birthday is 6/21/2005

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
