My Story

Date into Rescue: 07/03/20

Reason for being in rescue: Owner release/owner was evicted

Special Needs: None noted

What kind of home would be best for me: Murphy is a family dog. He previously lived with 2 smaller dogs. He would absolutely like to have buddies in his home, but if the owner had time for him he could be an only dog. Murphy can be timid. He doesn't know much about being a pet. He needs a patient, experienced family that can show him the ropes of family life. Murphy is indifferent to cats.

What is my personality like: Murphy is a great dog who's had little experience in his short life. His young world has been turned upside down, he lost his home for no reason except his human ran into financial issues and couldn't keep her dog family. He does want to connect with people and will shyly look at you once he trusts you.

When you first meet Murphy, he is cautious but becomes friendly.  He needs a little time to get to know you, then he desires being petted.  Murphy is not happy in his crate and we believe his previous owner didn't crate train him.  He will pant and drool and become incredibly stressed when he is crated. He is not a dog that can be left alone for long amounts of time during the day. He needs a lifestyle with a family where someone is home more than they are away.

We don't know about Murphy's interaction with children.  He is happy and willing to work for a treat. We expect that he would be happy with mature children that are patient with him and give him time to warm up. Murphy does okay on a leash, he still needs work on his leash manners. Murphy is highly treat and food motivated and will absolutely work for treats. He has so much potential!

How do I act when I first meet new people:  Cautious, then will warm up to you.

Tips and Tidbits: Murphy's estimated birthday is 6/24/18

House trained:  Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
