Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)
Weight: 33.5 lbs
Height: 20 in
Estimated Birthdate: 5/1/2015
Fence Needed: Yes
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: Lady Diane's owner passed away and no one in the family could keep her so she was surrendered to rescue.
Special Needs: Lady Dianne is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. Lady Dianne has heartworms and was treated on 2/24/2021. The protocol we use is two-fold. We do a pre-treat people where the dog takes doxycycline (an antibiotic) for at least 30 days. During this time the dog is also on regular heartworm prevention. The drug doxycycline weakens the adult heartworms. We then used a drug called diroban (a generic immiticide) to kill the adult heartworms. The dogs are given 2 injections of diroban 24 hours apart. They are then under strict rest protocols for 5 weeks - mostly cage rest with limited leash walks each day. They go in for a follow-up vet visit after their resting period. Our follow ups are scheduled for the first week of April. Our plan is for Lady Dianne to be able to go her new home on or about 4/8/2021.
What kind of home would be best for me: Lady Diane is an active girl looking for an active home. She would love another active dog that appreciates her energy, but would be equally happy with active humans. Running, hiking and playing are very needed for this girl. We don't recommend Lady Diane for a home with cats. She would be good with children over 10 who want an active best friend to play with.
What is my personality like: Lady Diane is described by her caregivers as an energetic, loving soul. She seeks you out for paly and adores a game of fetch. If there is a play group happening, you'll find Lady Diane in the middle. Whether it's canines or people, Lady Diane loves to be where the action is.
For all the energy, Lady Diane is a well mannered girl. She is a people pleaser at heart who responds to treats and positive rewards. She is clean in her crate and prefers nice, fluffy blankets to cuddle up to. She loves relaxing in the sun and being where people are. A better girl you will not meet!
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Lady Dianne's estimated birthday is 5/1/2015. This birthday is based on her pre-rescue paperwork.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
