My Story

Date into Rescue: 7/25/20

Reason for being in rescue: Death of owner

Special Needs: Toad is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, and heartworm negative. Toad had a major dental on 9/1/20. He lost 3 teeth to routine extractions and had oral surgery to help with 2 other teeth. On 9/8/20 Toad had a second dental surgery to repair an oronasal fistula. A lower molar was removed that was interfering with his previous dental work. Toad has a 3/6 heart murmor. He is also vision impaired. Toad is a senior boy with senior boy challenges. on 5/25/21 he was diagnosed with chronic bronchitis which results in coughing. He has been on Clindmycin and is responding well. His blood and chemistry test on 5/25/21 shows significant improvement in his overall health. Toad does eat a special diet of W/D kibble mixed with A/D canned food. Toad does have a mass in his abdomen that our vet believes is his gallbladder. We know he has some challenges with his gallbladder emptying. Surgery was not recommended and Toad was cleared by our veterinarian for adoption on 6/23/21.

What kind of home would be best for me: Toad is a happy senior boy looking for his retirement home. He is full of personality and eager to give love. Toad would be happy as the only dog or living with another mature dog. He is indifferent to cats. Toad's ideal home has someone home during the day, though this is not a requirement. Toad is vision impaired.

What is my personality like: Toad is a very spunky senior boy. He gets very excited when he hears food and will bark until the food is served. His favorite pastimes are laying in the sun and snuggling in a warm, cuddly bed with his senior friends. Toad likes human attention, but isn't too fond of having his head petted. He will lean his head away from your hand.

Toad is vision impaired. Sudden movements startle him and he will jump. He is very laid back and loves to be carried around. He has always lived with at least one other dog, but would be happy as your one and only. He is indifferent to cats.

Toad is ready for his forever home!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Toad's estimated birthday is 07/29/2007

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
