Special Needs: Cedric was neutered on 8/31/20. CEDRIC REQUIRES A HOME WITH A CONFIDENT, GREGARIOUS AND HUMAN ORIENTED DOG IN THE HOME. CEDRIC REQUIRES A HOME WITH AN EXPERIENED REHABBER. HE WILL BITE IF CORNERED. HE DOES NOT YET KNOW HOW TO BE A PET.
What kind of home would be best for me: Cedric is a young puppy that has been under-socialized during his first 8 weeks. He needs an owner experienced with dogs and will not be adopted to a first time dog owner. He would be best in a home with another confident dog that he can learn from, though could live happily with a confident, dedicated owner. He is fine with cats. Cedric would be okay with mature (over 10) children that are experienced with dogs.
What is my personality like: Cedric and his brother Aslan arrived at rescue via owner release. Carolina Poodle Rescue has been working with the family to help with a feral dog colony. Cedric was born to a feral mom and dad. He arrived in rescue 8 weeks young and with no socialization or human contact. This contact is key during the young, formative weeks of a dog's life. Our caregiving team has been working with them for the past month to team them that humans are kind and loving.
You look at Cedric and you see a sweet puppy face. But there is much more to him than that. For a young dog, he has been through a lot. He spent the first 8 weeks living outside in a feral dog colony. He wasn't touched by humans or socialized properly. He's spent the last 30 days in rescue learning to be a companion. Cedric is still very, very shy toward his caregivers, but is coming out of his shell. He still cowers when new people approach and will try to hide in the smallest space he can find.
Cedric eats well. He has started whining when he needs to go out because he doesn't like to make bathroom messes in his bed and in his crate. He is good for baths. He absolutely hates a leash, but that will come with time, patience and training. Cedric lives with cats and is indifferent to them. He is fine with other dogs, and really needs another confident dog that he can learn from.
Cedric is a great, young boy with so much potential! He needs an experienced owner that will teach him and guide him. He needs another dog that will help him learn. Cedric has a calm and gentle demeanor that we believe will mature into a wonderful pet.
How do I act when I first meet new people:
Tips and Tidbits: Cedric's estimated birthday is 5/28/20
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
