My Story

Date into Rescue: 08/01/2020

Reason for being in rescue: Hoarding case

Special Needs: Bruno was neutered and had a dental polishing on 8/10/20. He is highly flea allergic and must be on regular monthly flea & tick preventative for the rest of his life.

What kind of home would be best for me: Bruno is not for a first time dog owner. He vastly prefers a home with another laid back, confident small dog. He requires an experienced owner that has rescued in the past, and ideally someone that understands dogs that have been under-socialized. Bruno will not be placed in a home with children under 10. He is a great dog with so much potential that has come a long way in a short time. His experienced home will help him continue his journey in confidence.

What is my personality like: Bruno came to Carolina Poodle Rescue as part of a hoarding case. He was incredibly shut down when he arrived and just wasn't sure what was going on. Thanks to the gift of time and loving caregivers, Bruno is becoming quite the active, happy little dog. He happily barks and jumps up on his caregivers' legs to receive affection. He's even learning that leashes aren't that bad (but is not 100% convinced yet).

Bruno still has a ways to go. He is doing very well with his socialization at the farm and with general training. He needs continued work on a leash. He has learned that crates are safe and an area you keep clean. This is an important step in house training. Bruno is great with dogs of all sizes and with cats. He really just wants to play.

Everything will be new for Bruno. His definition of home life is very different than what we know. He will absolutely need training as he transitions into his new life. He needs a family with lots of experience and patience. Bruno has a lot of potential that will flourish in a quiet home with another confident dog.

Bruno had some hair loss along his neck and upper back that is now growing in beautifully. This is due to fleas and poor skin treatment. Bruno is highly flea allergic and must be on flea & tick medicine for the rest of his life.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Timid

Tips and Tidbits: Bruno's estimated birthday is 08/10/2013.  Bruno's shelter paperwork says he is 3 but we think he is older than that based on his teeth.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Thank you for considering CPR!
