My Story

Date into Rescue: 8/20/2020

Reason for being in rescue: hoarder case, Randolph County AS

Special Needs: Munchkin was vetted on 10/5/2020. She had a dental and lost 5 teeth. She also had a 2 inch mass removed from her left abdomen. Munchkin has been cleared for adoption and is ready for her forever home.

What kind of home would be best for me: Munchkin is looking for a home with an experienced owner and another dog. She has always lived with other dogs and enjoys their company. She will not be adopted to a first time dog owner. Munchkin is not good with cats and will not be considered for a home with cats.

What is my personality like: Munchkin came into rescue as part of a pack of dogs that were seized in a hoarding case. She spent far too long living at the shelter while her case was considered. After a lifetime of poor care and pack life, it is Munchkin's time to shine!

Munchkin is a shy girl that needs time to warm up. She doesn't like loud noises, fast movements or a lot of change. She is far better with dogs than people and relies on other dogs for direction and comfort. Munchkin is gentle. She enjoys being petted and being loved on once she knows and trusts you. Munchkin is like the tortoise - slow and stead wins the prize with this beautiful girl. She has a heart of gold for all that she has been through.

Munchkin has likely never lived in a home. This means that everything is going to be new for her. She is doing well with her crate training at the rescue. Her new owners will need to understand that every experience will be new and different and require patience. Munchkin is an all around super sweet girl looking for a home that will teach her how to be a house pet.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy but gentle

Tips and Tidbits: Munchkin's estimated birthday is 12/12/2009

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
