Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat)
Weight: 31.30 lbs
Height: 20 in
Estimated Birthdate: 12/12/2010
Fence Needed: No
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: hoarder case, Randolph County AS
Special Needs: Caden is a senior dog. He has a mature cataract in his right eye and some loss of vision in his left eye, the combination of which leaves him severely vision impaired. Caden's teeth are worn down from years of neglect. He had a major dental with extractions on 9/9/20.
What kind of home would be best for me: Caden is looking for a home with an experienced owner and another dog. He has always lived with other dogs and enjoys their company. He will not be adopted to a first time dog owner. Caden is not good with cats and will not be considered for a home with cats.
What is my personality like: Caden came into rescue as part of a pack of dogs that were seized in a hoarding case. He spent far too long living at the shelter while his case was considered. After a lifetime of poor care and pack life, it is Caden's time to shine!
Caden is highly motivated. He loves, loves, loves food. He will work for food, which is very helpful in training. Caden is great with other dogs. He has always lived with multiple dogs and it shows. In his playgroup he is easy-going and happy with all different personalities. Caden loves to go for walks on a leash, but needs continued training on proper leash manners. We don't know if he'd ever been on a leash before arriving in rescue, but he sure does enjoy going somewhere special with you!
Caden is a love bug. He loves to get attention from people and will let you sit and pet him for as long as you want. At 9.5 years old his days of going for runs are likely behind him, but Caden would love to go for walks or short hikes and then unwind by snuggling on the couch. His favorite scratching spot is on his neck closer to his tail. He almost smiles when you find the perfect spot.
Caden has likely never lived in a home. This means that everything is going to be new for him. He is doing well with his crate training at the rescue. His new owners will need to understand that every experience will be new and different and require patience. Caden is a quick learner and easy to please. He's an all around super sweet boy looking for a home that will teach him how to be a house pet.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Caden's estimated birthday is 12/12/2010
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
