My Story

Date into Rescue: 8/28/2020

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Queenie has a a grade 5/6 heart murmor. She is on Vetmedin twice/day to help manage. Queenie had a major dental on 9/22/20 and lost 11 teeth. On 11/17/20 it was noted that Queenie does have a 1 mm oronasal fistula which is insignificant. Queenie does shed!

What kind of home would be best for me: Queenie would be happy in most environments as long as she is part of the family. Her ideal forever home has someone home during the day that will let her cuddle close to them. She is not an active dog, and with her heart condition, won't be an active dog. Given this, she's not well suited for a family looking for an active companion. Queenie would be fine living with other dogs or cats or being the only dog. This girl is an absolute angel just waiting to fill your heart!

What is my personality like: Queenie is like a fine wine - subtle, understated, but wonderful. This calm and gentle girl takes the world in, patiently waiting for her time. The majority of Queenie's life before rescue was spent living in a single room that she was not allowed out of. Little attention was paid, but this girl's capacity to love and trust got her through what we imagine were some pretty dark days.

It is Queenie's time to shine. Given Queenie's heart murmur, she needs a quiet life. She loves to bask in the sun and would adore walks in a stroller. She loves being with people and would treasure the opportunity to spend her entire day curled up on the couch beside you. She is good with large and small dogs and totally indifferent to cats. Queenie just wants a home that will include her. She's lived on the outside looking in. It's her time to be front and center in a family that adores her.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Queenie's estimated birthday is 12/13/2010

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
