My Story

Date into Rescue: 8/18/2020

Reason for being in rescue: owner surrender to volunteer

Special Needs: Jason was neutered on 8/31/2020. Jason requires a home with another confident dog. He will not be adopted to a first time dog owner.

What kind of home would be best for me: Jason is an under-socialized young dog. He will not be adopted to a home with first time dog owners. He will not be adopted into an environment where he is the only dog. Jason needs a family or owner experienced with rescue and experienced with shy dogs. He must have another confident dog in the home. He would be better in a home without children, or with mature (over 13) children who are very experienced with dogs.

What is my personality like: Jason and his brother Kevin were surrendered to a volunteer. Their mom is feral (we are working on that) and their socialization during the first 6 months of their lives has been minimal at best. Kevin has come leaps and bounds since arriving at rescue in mid-August. He is young and curious and really wants to trust people. Though Jason is timid, his trust can be earned with a consistent, gentle approach.

EVERYTHING is new for Jason. He had never been on a leash until he arrived at rescue. He'd likely never slept in a crate. He's almost certainly never lived in a home. Jason is working on crate training and improving daily. Leashes still need a lot of work. Living in a home will be an entirely new experience.

Jason is good with dogs of all sizes. He has grown up with a canine brother and really needs the confidence of another dog to interact with and learn from. Jason does not need another shy dog; confident is key. Jason did chase cats in his previous home, but was never aggressive toward them.

Jason has a lot to learn.... about toys, soft beds, warm food, and snuggles. His forever family will recognize this and help him learn the joys of being a companion.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Very shy

Tips and Tidbits: Jason's estimated birthday is 3/15/2020

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
