My Story

Date into Rescue: 09/04/2020

Reason for being in rescue: Carly was surrendered by her owners to a rural shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled her from the shelter.

Special Needs: Carly has terrible skin. She arrived in rescue covered in scabs secondary to an untreated flea allergy. Carly had a major dental on 9/22/20 and lost 8 teeth. Carly is on a hypoallergenic diet to help manage her allergies and the secondary skin and ear infections that have come from untreated allergies.  We also strongly suspect that Carly is deaf.

What kind of home would be best for me: Carly is not for a first time dog owner. She has many allergies and will require a special diet for the rest of her life. She needs an experienced owner that will give her time to warm up and earn trust. It doesn't take long! Carly's ideal family understands and has experience with the Papillon breed, has no other dogs, and is home during the day to spoil this princess.

What is my personality like: What can we say besides look at those ears!! Carly arrived in rescue via the shelter where her owners surrendered her. Her skin and coat and ears were in terrible condition and her little spirit was shutting down. It is amazing what the right diet, proper medical care, and lots of love can do for a girl.

Carly has lived her entire life as an only dog. She tolerates other dogs and is okay with them (and cats), but would be much happier as the only princess. She is crate trained, leash trained, and rides well in a car. She can be a little head shy why you pet her or pick her up, but give Carly 48 hours and she will give you her heart. We aren't sure if Carly knows basic commands. She gets so excited to see you that she just bounces up and down. Carly has a heart of gold that she is eager to share!

How do I act when I first meet new people: A little timid, but she warms up quickly

Tips and Tidbits: Carly's estimated birthday 09/04/2012

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
