My Story

Date into Rescue: 9/19/2020

Reason for being in rescue: Tucker was surrendered by his owners to a shelter in North Carolina. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.

Special Needs: Tucker is a senior dog. He had a dental on 10/30/2020 and lost 10 teeth, 4 of which had to be drilled out. Tucker arrived in rescue overweight, with severe infections in both ears, and mature cataracts in both eyes. He is being treated for ear infections and is on a diet to help with weight loss. Tucker needs consistent flea and tick medicine to ensure his skin continues to heal from untreated flea infections. Tucker is hearing and vision impaired.

What kind of home would be best for me: Tucker is everyone's dog. A happier, more gentle boy you will not meet. Tucker's ideal home is with quiet retirees looking for a lap pet. He does not require a ton of exercise. He wants a lap, regular meals, and lots of love. Tucker would be happy living with other dogs and cats or as the only dog in your heart. This wonderful boy is going to make someone's heart very full!

What is my personality like: Tucker is a sweetheart of a senior boy. When his owners gave up on him due to old age, Carolina Poodle Rescue stepped up. We knew this boy had plenty of life and love left to share and he has proved us right every single day. Tucker is a cuddler. He'd sit on a lap or in your arms all day if you would let him.

Tucker is an easy going boy. He is vision impaired, but it does not slow him down. His life at the farm involves lots of snuggles, plenty of healthy food, and daily medicine to help get his flea allergies and ear infections under control. Tucker is on a weight loss program. He needs to lose at least 2 pounds. He knows when it is feeding time and will sing and dance for his kibble.

Tucker is great with other dogs of all sizes. He is totally indifferent to cats and is living with 2 cats in his current cottage. If you are looking for a sleep in the bed, snuggly companion, Tucker would love to fill your lap!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Tucker's estimated birthday is 9/19/2007

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
