My Story

Date into Rescue: 20/24/2020

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Samson was neutered and had a dental polishing on 10/30/20. Samson was noted as having chronic bilateral chronic mixed otitis (ear infections). His ears are being treated twice/week through November 2020.

What kind of home would be best for me: Samson is a mature gentleman looking for a calm home. He would be happy living with other calm dogs, just no young, overly hyper puppies please. Samson is very intelligent and appreciates routine and structure. Samson is good with large and small dogs.Samson IS NOT good with cats.

What is my personality like: Samson was surrendered by his owners to their breeder. They could no longer care for their dog and wanted someone to help him find the right forever home. The groomer reached out to Carolina Poodle Rescue for help placing this handsome boy and here we are today.

Samson is like a philosopher - he is mature, intelligent, and knows what he wants. He has consistently been around other dogs and is accustomed to living with other animals. He is the kind of dog that you don't have to work for. He already knows what he wants and how life works. He is calm on a leash. He is too smart for his own good sometimes. Samson has quickly figured out how to open gates around our rescue and will dart out if he can. He is not a dog that you'll be able to leave outside in a fenced yard unattended.

Samson prefers dogs with calmer demeanors. He's matured beyond silly puppy play. He will put an overly hyper dog that won't leave him alone in its place. Samson is not aggressive, but will correct a younger dog that has poor social manners. Samson arrived at our rescue unaltered. He has done a lot of marking, but there are lots of unfamiliar smells around the rescue. We expect between hormonal changes from his neuter and a belly band Samson will transition well into his new home.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Samson's estimated birthday is 10/24/2009

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
