My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/20/20

Reason for being in rescue: Lex was found as a stray in Inman SC. The good people who found him advertised and looked for an owner but with no collar/id tag and no microchip, that search was unsuccessful.  Lex was listed on several lost and found sites but no one came forward for him.

Special Needs:  Lex had horrible dental problems with over 30 extractions.  He has a 4 out of 6 heart murmur and has been started on Vetmedin (1.25 my twice per day to support his heart.  Cost is approximately $2 per day).  With all of the nasty bacteria from bad teeth out of his mouth we’re hoping the heart will improve. His mouth has healed well.  He also has developing cataracts which dims his vision.

What kind of home would be best for me: Lex is a gentle little old man looking for a soft place to retire.

What is my personality like:  Lex is a super chill old soul. He gets along great with everyone and everything. He’s a gentle old guy looking for a quiet place to retire. He does take vetmedin for a heart condition. (Vet port). He lost a lot of his teeth so he would have to have extra care when preparing his food. He lays around and sleeps most of the day. He would love a fuzzy bed and lots of sunshine to warm his old bones. He would need a home with other older dogs as the young’s ones would run him over.  He doesn’t move fast.  He will come over and ask for affection and loves to sit on your lap. He loves treats and loves to eat. He couldn’t do long walks but would love a yard to just wander and sit in the sun with you.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Estimated birthdate 10/20/09.  Please note this is ONLY an estimate.  His true age is unknown. He could be older or he could be younger and have had a rough life

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
