My Story

Date into Rescue: 10/25/2020

Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Wendy had a dental on 11/3/20 and lost 13 teeth. Her mouth feels much better!

What kind of home would be best for me: Wendy is looking for a lap. Wendy's previous owners said that she will resource guard her person's lap from other dogs. Given this, we do not recommend her for a home with other dogs. At the rescue she is living in a cottage with cats and is fine with them. We have not tested Wendy with children.

Wendy's ideal home is with retiree(s) that have plenty of time to devote to her. She'd love daily strolls but isn't up for long hikes.

What is my personality like: Wendy was purchased as a puppy from a breeder. She spent the first 9 years of her life as a beloved inside pet. When the family moved to a new area, they made the decision that Wendy would live outside. Thankfully her owners realized Wendy wanted and needed to be an inside pet as she had always been and reached out to Carolina Poodle Rescue for help.

Wendy is a sweet little girl. She has clearly been someone's lap pet and enjoys filling that spot. To be 11 years young, Wendy is full of spunk and sass. If you're familiar with the Golden Girls, Wendy's caregivers describe her as the quintessential Golden Girl. She has the full personality of Blanche, the happy-go-lucky heart of Rose, and the strong leader in Dorothy. She wants to be with her human and by her human as much as possible and loves all the attention you will shower on her!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Wendy's birthday is 2/7/2009

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
