My Story

Date into Rescue: 12/19/2020

Reason for being in rescue: Oscar was found as a stray and landed in rescue.

Special Needs: Oscar was hit by a car but a vet check revealed no injuries noted. He has been neutered, is up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Oscar is ready for his forever home.

What kind of home would be best for me: If you love beagles, Oscar is the boy for you! He is friendly, energetic, and loves to snuggle. He'd be happy as the only dog or with another dog (though he doesn't consistently play with other dogs). He is indifferent to cats. Oscar's ideal home is active. He'd love to be a walking and hiking buddy.

What is my personality like: When asked to describe Oscar, his caregivers immediately said rambunctious and nosey! Oscar is all hound. He is always sniffing, frequently stubborn, and full of personality. Oscar is VERY affectionate, bordering on needy. He wants to be where you are and would sit in your lap all day if you would let him. He is full of energy. Oscar needs to be supervised when he is outside. He will climb fences to get to where people and the action are. We suspect this may be how he ended up as a stray.

Oscar is looking for an active home. He is good with other dogs, playing occasionally with his cottage mates in our fenced fields. He loves to chase tennis balls, but hasn't quite figured out that you need to bring them back yet. Oscar is going to be a great little buddy to some lucky family!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Oscar was found as a stray. His age is a guesstimate based on hi overall condition. We estimate Oscar's age at 12/19/2016.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
