Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Toy) (long coat)
Weight: 8 lbs
Height: 14 in
Estimated Birthdate: 10/15/2012
Fence Needed: No, but he would love one
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners
Special Needs: Rocky is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. He is blind but it does not slow him down! Rocky had a dental on 2/16/21 and lost 14 teeth. He has a grade 3/6 heart murmur. Rocky has had his eyes evaluated. Sadly, he is not a candidate for restorative vision surgery. Rocky is blind but incredibly adaptive!
What kind of home would be best for me: Rocky's blindness requires a well-organized home free from unexpected clutter or unexpected physical changes. He can easily learn about his environment but would like to avoid sudden changes which cause him to bump. Rocky seeks a home where routines are predictable and calm. Rocky does not like children and will not be placed in a home with children under 12. Also, outdoor access for long supervised naps in the sun is a must for this boy. If his new home has a cat, that is fine with Rocky too.
What is my personality like: Rocky is insanely affectionate and adores being cuddled. He is the calm laidback kind of dude who takes each day in stride. Rocky likes both men and women as long as he can be your friend, he's good. Rocky is easy to please and wants to please in return. Keep life simple is his life motto.
Rocky needs to know where his bed is located. He needs items to be placed in a dedicated spot. Water bowl and food bowl in the kitchen corner - Rocky will learn where everyday items are located. Due to being only 8 years old, please be prepared to commit to a long life with Rocky's blindness.
Rocky's first family was a loving home with retired professionals. It was a quiet home for him and his sister, Lily. Their owner's life changed and lovingly surrendered Rocky and his sister. Rocky enjoyed being a ride-along buddy in the car regularly.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Rocky's birthday is 10/15/2012
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
