My Story
Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by owners
Special Needs: Lulu is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Lulu requires a home with another confident dog.
What kind of home would be best for me: Lulu needs a home where her family can provide her with a very consistent routine, lots and lots of reassurance, and constant love and affection. She's spent her first 3 years in a home, but is very shut down in rescue and appears to have had limited experiences. Lulu requires a home with another large, confident dog to learn from and model behavior. Lulu has never lived with children, but has a mild demeanor and would be fine with children over 8.
What is my personality like: Lulu arrived in rescue with her mom when she was 1 day old. She spent her first 6 weeks in a foster home with her mom. She was adopted as a young pup and lived her first 3 years in a home with 2 other large dogs. Life was loving, but exposures were limited. Sadly, Lulu returned to rescue in May 2023 through no fault of her own.
Lulu is a 2.5 year old female Hound mix who needs a home where her new family can teach her to love and trust. Lulu can be timid when meeting new people, and even more so when being introduced to a new setting. She may be shy, but when she chooses you, she chooses you and that’s that. She is more fond and trusting of women rather than men, and seeks guidance and direction from them. Once she is comfortable in a new environment, she will begin to come out of her shell and explore each and every thing around her. She is very observant and very intelligent, and just needs to ensure that she is safe.
Lulu absolutely needs another dog in the home; one who is older and can teach her to build up her confidence as well as guide and direct her through this new experience. Lulu is good with other dogs big and small, and will engage in play once she has gained a sense of relaxation and comfort. She is partially crate trained and is not house trained, so additional training will be needed for her to understand the rules of her new home. She will jump a 4ft fence when left unattended, only to come find her people. She walks decently on a leash but still needs time spent in that area.
Lulu is very loyal to those that she loves and is willing to do anything for them to prove that. This sweet girl wants nothing more than her forever family to love her just as much as she loves them.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Timid but sweet
Tips and Tidbits: Lulu's birthday is 12/29/2020
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
