Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Standard) (long coat)
Weight: 70 lbs
Height: 24 in
Estimated Birthdate: 5/13/2018
Fence Needed: Yes
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by owners who loved him but could not make the choice Jack demanded - me or the other dogs. Jack walks with humans only. He does not like other dogs.
Special Needs: Yes - Jack needs an only dog home and he does not need to have access to other dogs. Right now, here in our kennel, Jack is reactive to every dog who walks by him. In his previous homes, he also was reactive to other dogs and that is why he is here. Jack needs acreage, to not have to see other dogs, to not have to walk down the neighborhood street and see other dogs. He adores people. People are cool. Other dogs he wants no part of.
What kind of home would be best for me: We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner and a calm, routine oriented home with exercise, structure and routine. If Jack is not hyped up and over-excited, he is very good at basic cues (sit and paw are the two we've tried so far and he loves loves loves to come when called) and he walks well on a leash. Jack will not be placed in a home with other dogs or with cats. He is not well suited for a home with children or lots of visitors.
What is my personality like: Jack is a sweetheart and a cuddle bug with his humans. He loves to be with his caregiver and will express himself through whining if he's left outside by himself too long (defined as under 10 minutes in Jack's book). He gives great big hugs and will cuddle anytime you ask him to. He wants to be with his humans! Jack takes a bit of time to adjust and be comfortable in new physical spaces. The more time you spend with him in his new space, the faster this process is.
We've found Jack to have a discriminating palate. Straight dry dog food won't do. He likes his food warmed a bit and out of a can although he will eat a few piece of dry food if it's mixed in.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Jack Kennedy's birthday is 5/13/2018
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
