Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Standard) / Great Pyrenees / Mixed (long coat)
Weight: 43 lbs
Height: 24 in
Estimated Birthdate: 2/24/2020
Fence Needed: Yes
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/too many animals
Special Needs: Bosco is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, and heartworm negative.
What kind of home would be best for me: Bosco is seeking a home with an experienced and patient owner who will introduce him to the world. Another dog his size in his home is essential to his happiness. Bosco is not for a first time dog owner. He is not for a home with children. He is not for a home with cats. Bosco is a project!
We do NOT know Bosco's exact heritage except that Kadu is his father. The breeder had both Great Pyr/poodle mixes and Australian shepherd/poodle mixes. We were not told who or what breed Bosco's mother is. He does not shed here.
What is my personality like: Bosco's personality matches his topknot - wild and silly. He's slow to accept human touch but he likes to chew on the tail end of his caregiver's T shirts as if to say "hello - give me treats!" He is very, very shy but has no aggression. He simply has very little experience with humans. He is a chewer and needs lots of good things to chomp on. We use milk jugs to carry water but we've gone through quite a few lately as he happily tears those up. But..he is obsessed with dog beds and never, ever will he damage one of those precious items. He also goes into his roommates' crates and steals their beds and takes him into his own crate. Bosco is still working on crate training. He has not mastered it yet, but he is trying.
WE HAVE NOT YET HAD A LEASH ON BOSCO. An experienced owner with a fenced in yard will understand that he has to be worked with. His potential new family will need to bring a crate where he can be safely transported. He will be put into his crate, lifted into the car and then you need someone on the other end to lift the crate out of the car and get him safely behind a sturdy fence. Then the fun of earning this dog's trust will begin.
A special note - since Bosco has been known to eat stuff, we suggest pet insurance. So far he's not swallowed anything plastic or cloth that we can tell but there's a first time for everything and then your facing blockage surgery.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy and afraid. This one is a project.
Tips and Tidbits: Bosco's estimated birthdate is 2/24/2020.
Bosco is clean in his crate. This is his first step in house training.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
