Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Poodle (Toy) / Mixed (long coat)
Weight: 11.4 lbs. Casey could stand to lose at least a pound.
Height: 14 in
Estimated Birthdate: 2/25/2009
Fence Needed: No
Location: Foster Home in Rocky Mount, NC
Reason for being in rescue: Casey Coltrane was surrendered by his owners to a local shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.
Special Needs: Casey is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 3/31/21 he had a dental with multiple extractions and 3 small fatty masses removed from his legs. The vet noted that Casey's kidney values (BUN) were slightly elevated. These are easily influenced by diet and hydration status per the vet. Casey will need these rechecked in 8 weeks.
What kind of home would be best for me: Casey is looking for a home where he will be the beloved companion. He'd be happy with another calm dog or as the only dog. His exercise needs aren't high, but he does need regular physical activity. Casey would love someone home during the day, but it isn't required as long as you can provide him a break. This gentle boy is eager to share his heart!
What is my personality like: Casey was surrendered by his owners to a rural shelter because he had an accident in the house and his owners "couldn't deal with it". Dogs have accidents. It typically doesn't result in losing your home. Sadly, in Casey's case it did. But the past is merely prologue and Casey is ready to write his future!
Casey is a handsome 12-year-old boy that is described by his foster mom as a gentle lap baby. He gets along great with other dogs and with cats. As you can see in his photos, Casey is overweight. Food is clearly his love language. Casey walks well on a leash and is great in a car. He does not prefer a crate. He is a sleep in the bed, snuggle on the couch kind of boy.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Casey's estimated birthday is 2/25/2009. This is purely an estimate based on the information he provided to the animal shelter.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
