My Story

Date into Rescue: 3/9/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder Release

Special Needs: Sherlock is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, and heartworm negative. He had a dental on 3/17/21 and lost 2 teeth.  He had a very nasty ear infection that we are continuing to treat.  This will have to be monitored and watched.  He will need follow up care until his ears completely heal (and that can take months).

What kind of home would be best for me:  Sherlock is a retired breeder dog.  For his whole life, he has been one of many.  Everything was done in a group - a pack if you will.  There has never been a time in his life that he was without other dogs.  We are seeking a home with a family that understands that and has at least one happy, gregarious standard or doodle (does not matter female or male - he seems to like the guys just as well as the girls).

Sherlock's best home will also understand that he has lived most of his life outdoors in a chain link run with a dog house. He needs to learn that enjoying your home is now his privilege. He's going to be overwhelmed at first but he will get it.

What is my personality like: We've not really seen it yet.  He enjoys his buddies Kadu and Bosco.  He is fun with them and playful.  He's still cautious around us humans.  We know from the dogs we have received from this breeder, that it generally takes about 6 months and they open up.  However, these are usually younger.  He will never be a social butterfly but he will learn to love his new family well.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Cautious.

Tips and Tidbits: Sherlock Green's birthday is 1/30/2015

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
