My Story

Date into Rescue: 3/30/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder Release

Special Needs: Cocoa is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. He had a dental polishing on 4/15/21.

What kind of home would be best for me: Cocoa is a young dog who has lived a lot of life in his short 3.5 years. He was sold by his breeder as a puppy, but returned at 18 months with very little socialization. Cocoa is a shy dog that needs an experienced owner. He requires a home with another dog for play and to teach Cocoa how to be a pet. He is not for a first time dog owner. He is not for a home with young children. He is not for a family that has never rescued before.

Cocoa is a project. The best projects are always worth it. Cocoa has a ton of potential and is eagerly looking for the family that will help him become his best self!

What is my personality like: There is nothing warmer than a daily hug from Cocoa. Wherever he goes he brings in just a little bit of extra joy. One of the first things you’ll notice when you meet Cocoa is the confidence. Even if he’s actually scared he’ll stand tall and proud and bark at you (that is of course until he realizes your the good guy). Despite his obvious efforts to fend off any bad person it’s a fairly easy task to win him over. Normally he’d be to scared when you first meet to take a treat right away but start with the pets and your on your way to having your perfect lap buddy. It will become apparent the more time you spend with him that this guy wants to be able to make those around him happy!

Cocoa loves to run and he also will play fetch (he doesn’t quite understand the ball needs to come back though!). Having another dog friend in the home would be extremely welcomed. Cocoa loves to have others around so he can have a play buddy to keep up all his energy! Using a crate is also encouraged for this little guy! He loves to have his own space and he’s also clean in a crate.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy

Tips and Tidbits: Cocoa's birthday is 7/28/2017

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
