Meet An Adoptable Dog
Breed: Dachshund (short coat)
Weight: 12.9 lb could gain just a tiny bit
Height: 10 in
Estimated Birthdate: 3/30/2011
Fence Needed: Yes - for security. It takes him time to learn to trust and it will be safer for him
Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Reason for being in rescue: Hoarder case Anderson
Special Needs: Reece had his teeth cleaned and lost 6. He will need ongoing good dental care. You just can't ignore teeth. Everything else looked good except he was very nervous for the exam
What kind of home would be best for me: Our best home will be an experienced dachshund lover who knows this breed and is willing to offer a rescue a home. He does require a fenced in yard since it takes some time for him to bond to his person. Reece would do good in a low energy home with no young children.
Reece is a very calm dachshund who enjoys plenty of life.
What is my personality like: Low key, unsure. Reece does not push it if you don't push him. His favorite thing about life seems to be always being snuggles in a bed with a blanket over him. He can often be found within any cloth he can hide in such as beds, pillow cases, and he’s even wondered under a couple of pee pads. He does enjoy attention and love, but can often have an attitude when being moved from his comfy places. He loves treats and anything else. He enjoys sunbathing and being outside. He doesn’t have a lot of leash manners, but he’s willing to learn.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Timid
Tips and Tidbits: We think Reece is around 10 so have estimated his birthdate at 3/30/11.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
