My Story

Date into Rescue: 4/2/2021

Reason for being in rescue: Sissy was seized as part of a local hoarding case. Carolina Poodle Shelter partnered with the shelter.

Special Needs: Sissy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. On 5/12/21 she had a dental with 2 extractions. She also had an epidermal cyst removed from her back. Our vet noted that Sissy has some narrowed space between her C6 and C7 vertebrae. She does not appear to be in pain. Sissy has been cleared by our veterinary partner with a note that she will need regular dentals and needs a home that will ensure she does not jump and further injure her back.

What kind of home would be best for me: Sissy would like a home where they are ready for a cuddle princess. A home that understands doxies would be really cool! Sissy loves having blankets to burrow in as she snoozes the day away. Also, she loves to cuddle with any dog who needs a pal. Naturally, Sissy would like them to be a doxie too, since she mostly cuddles with other doxies here. If not, Sissy says your lap will work as a great place to be.

What is my personality like: Sissy gets along with all dogs and people. She will poke her head up from the blankets to see what's happening. She prefers a calmer setting so she can make herself known to everyone who will listen. Sissy will chatter and tell you what she's thinking or to get attention.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Sissy likes seeing new faces and being able to show off her big bright eyes. She wants everyone to know she's the princess of the room.

Tips and Tidbits: Sissy's estimated birthday is 3/30/2009

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
